At Halcyon Life we prioritize

Safety

  • Our new steel chambers are engineered to reach the optimal depths for all treatment protocols, ensuring safe and effective therapy.

  • Designed with precision, our advanced 5-point safety manifold system ensures accurate pressure regulation for each session, guaranteeing your safety and comfort.

  • Our hyperbaric chambers undergo regular inspections and maintenance by expert manufacturers and technical compliance specialists to ensure optimal performance and safety.

  • Each visit includes a standard check of your vital signs to ensure your progress and well-being.

  • Constant visual and audio communication throughout treatment. You will never be alone during a session.

  • Unlike an MRI, you can freely move and adjust your position during treatment to ensure your comfort.

  • Your technician is always present during a treatment. If you need to end the treatment early, for any reason, simply inform the technician. It takes about 10 minutes to safely adjust the chamber pressure for exiting. You always have a choice.

  • Intercom phone system: for ease of communication with patient.

  • Grounding Pad to rid of any possibility of electrical fire.

  • Emergency Alarm control for patient to alert staff.

  • Emergency Pressure Relief Valve; reduces pressure in the case of an emergency.

  • Emergency door release in case of power outage.
Large viewing window allows for easy observation.

  • Thick 304 grade stainless steel will last the test of time without fault.

Contraindications

If any of the following applies to you, mention it during your consultation and we will act accordingly.

Absolute Contraindications:

  1. Untreated pneumothorax: If you have a collapsed lung that hasn't been treated, HBOT can be dangerous.

Relative Contraindications:

  1. Concurrent doxorubicin use: If you're taking the cancer drug doxorubicin, it can harm your heart if you also do HBOT. Stop taking it at least 24 hours before HBOT.

  2. Bleomycin use: This cancer drug can cause lung problems. It's safer if you haven't used it in over six months.

  3. Disulfiram: This medication can make you more likely to have seizures or lung problems during HBOT.

  4. Cisplatin use: Another cancer drug that can slow wound healing, but it’s not completely unsafe.

  5. Mafenide: Can cause acid buildup in the body but can be cleaned off before HBOT.

  6. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): Risk of breathing problems due to high oxygen levels.

  7. Asthma: Can trap air in the lungs and cause lung injury.

  8. Implanted devices: Devices in your body need to be checked to make sure they can handle the pressure.

  9. Epidural pain pumps: These pain devices can malfunction under pressure.

  10. Pregnancy: Usually avoided, but can be helpful for treating carbon monoxide poisoning.

  11. High fever or epilepsy: Can increase the chance of having a seizure during HBOT.

  12. Inability to equalize ear or sinus pressure: Can cause pain or injury to your ears or sinuses.

  13. Eustachian tube dysfunction: Can cause ear damage during pressure changes.

  14. Claustrophobia: Fear of confined spaces can be a problem unless controlled with medication.

  15. History of eye surgery: Trapped air or gas in the eye can expand and cause damage.

  16. History of thoracic surgery: Increased risk of lung problems.

  17. History of spontaneous pneumothorax: Previous collapsed lung needs more evaluation.

  18. Current upper respiratory and severe sinus infections: Can cause severe ear and sinus pain.

  19. Asymptomatic pulmonary lesions: Unnoticed lung issues need checking before HBOT.

  20. History of optic neuritis or sudden blindness: Needs careful evaluation because of limited research.

  21. Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus or acute hypoglycemia: Can lower blood sugar levels dangerously during HBOT.

  22. Nicotine or caffeine use: Can reduce the effectiveness of HBOT due to narrowed blood vessels.

  23. Congenital spherocytosis: Can cause red blood cells to break down.

  24. Perilymph fistulas: Can worsen vertigo and other ear problems.

  25. Tuberculosis: Can reactivate old TB infections.

  26. Age-related macular degeneration and keratoconus: Can worsen certain eye conditions.

  27. Glaucoma: High oxygen can damage parts of the eye; using a mask is safer.

Not a Contraindication:

  1. Active cancer: HBOT does not increase tumor growth.
